PROJECT

Lisbon's trams, although often associated with tourism, are still a central part of the city's urban mobility.
Our job is to develop a brand new face for Lisbon‘s trams with a distinct identity from the rest of Carris's offering.
PROBLEM

We live in an age of bubbles. Headphones, screens, Ubers with closed windows and private cars.
This distances us from the world around us, and we end up crossing the city without really feeling it. Turning people into mere passengers.
SOLUTION

The tram turns this around. It forces us to be present — riding above the surface, not buried beneath it like the subway. Its passage is quiet, unhurried, nothing like the rattle of a bus, and the sun still finds you through an open window. The tram takes us on a journey that makes us part of Lisbon.

To express this shift in perspective, we developed a new brand mark derived from the main brand. We extended it into a set of patterns and typography and added a green tone that draws the identity closer to Lisbon. This gives the trams a flexible system — one that sets them apart from the rest of Carris's offerings.
